Postpartum Doulas in Calgary

All 25 doulas here have a published postpartum rate. Daytime rates run from $35 to $50 an hour, and most sit between $40 and $45. Overnight shifts usually cost $5 more an hour, and several doulas add GST. Some set a minimum visit length of 3 or 4 hours. Alberta Health does not pay for a private postpartum doula. Some employer benefit plans and health spending accounts reimburse doula care, so check your own plan. Three doulas here say they are approved Carrot providers, and Stacey Tweedle notes that “Some insurance companies reimburse for Doula services.”

A postpartum doula provides non-medical support at home after birth: newborn care, feeding help, rest for the birthing parent, light household tasks and meals, and emotional support. Day shifts and overnights are both common. They do not diagnose or treat medical conditions.
