The best baby stores in Provo are the ones where you can push the stroller across the floor, fold it one-handed, lift the car seat, and ask someone who has installed two hundred of them which one fits your car. Shopping for a baby in Utah Valley means working the Interstate 15 corridor from Lehi down to Springville: the one full gear store is in American Fork, the valley’s homegrown baby brands sell from small storefronts in Orem and Pleasant Grove, and nearly every independent is closed on Sunday. Below are the independent shops we would send a friend to first in 2026, what each one is best for, where the big chains fit in, and how to shop secondhand without guessing.
For most Provo families, The Baby Cubby is the best all-around baby store, with Lou Lou and Company as another standout. Independents win on advice, registries and test drives; Target and the national chains win on price and returns. Most families use both.

Why Where You Buy Baby Gear in Provo Matters in 2026
Before the list, some context for why a good store is about more than price. In 2022 there were an estimated 59,500 emergency department visits among children under five linked to nursery products, and four categories, high chairs, cribs and mattresses, infant carriers, and strollers, accounted for 63 percent of them.1 More than half of car seats are not used or installed correctly, which is why a store that fits the seat in your car is worth a detour.2 Every crib sold new in the United States has had to meet the federal crib standard since June 2011, which banned traditional drop-side cribs, so anything older bought secondhand needs a careful look.3 And the biggest purchase of all, the sleep space, is the one most connected to the nights ahead, something we see clearly in our State of Baby Sleep report.

How We Picked the Best Baby Stores in Provo
We started with a pool of more than 20 Provo-area baby stores, boutiques, nursery showrooms and resale shops surfaced from local parent groups, neighborhood business districts and shopping roundups. Then we checked every one against four criteria: it is independent or locally owned (the national chains get their own section below), it is open and active in 2026 with a verified street address, it offers something you cannot get from a website (stroller test drives, car seat fitting, registry help, classes, a curated edit, or a real secondhand rack), and it has a track record of local families vouching for it. We were not paid to include anyone on this list, and there are no affiliate arrangements. Hours, stock and prices change, so call ahead before a special trip.
1. The Baby Cubby: Best overall, and best for gear and strollers
The Baby Cubby is the only independent we found in Utah County that sells strollers, car seats and nursery furniture under one roof, and its American Fork shop on North 900 West is the valley’s registry stop. The company says it has been helping families for over 11 years. Its site names UPPAbaby and Doona strollers and Nuna and Maxi-Cosi car seats, alongside cribs, dressers and gliders, plus clothing from Rylee + Cru, Quincy Mae, Noralee and Kyte Baby.
Staff, called Cubby Moms, are trained on every gear brand the store carries, and some are certified Child Passenger Safety technicians you can talk to during regular hours. There is a baby registry, a rewards program, an everyday price match, and free shipping on web orders over 95 dollars. Prices are premium. A second store trades in Sandy, in Salt Lake County. The tradeoff: it is closed Sunday, and American Fork is a freeway drive from Provo.
Where: 586 N 900 W, American Fork, UT 84003. Neighborhood: American Fork (North 900 West). Phone: 801-770-0584. Hours: Monday to Saturday 10 to 7 (from site, matches the Google Business listing), closed Sunday.
Best for: parents who want to compare strollers, car seats and cribs in one trip.
2. Lou Lou and Company: Best for newborn clothing and swaddles
Lou Lou and Company is an Orem baby brand with a real shop attached. Founder Karen, a NICU nurse and mother of five, says on the site that she sewed the first stretchy swaddle for her own newborn, and the family business grew from there. The storefront on West 1200 North carries a selection of the label’s range, which runs from swaddle blankets, knotted gowns and zipper footies to top knot hats and bows, in sizes from preemie up through toddler and kids.
You can browse in person six days a week or collect a web order with free local pickup, and the brand offers custom embroidery, gift bundles and a rewards program. Prices are mid-range: swaddles start at 24 dollars and a top and bottoms set runs about 44. The tradeoff: the shop carries select items, not the whole online catalog, it cannot process returns or exchanges of web orders, no phone number is published, and it is closed Sunday.
Where: 1580 W 1200 N St, Unit 12, Orem, UT 84057. Neighborhood: Northwest Orem (West 1200 North). Hours: Monday to Friday 10 to 7, Saturday 10 to 4 (from site, matches the Google Business listing), closed Sunday.
Best for: a coming home outfit, a stretchy swaddle or an embroidered shower gift.
3. Plum + Sparrow: Best for Moses baskets and bassinets, limited showroom hours
Plum + Sparrow sells African Moses baskets, and its Pleasant Grove showroom lets you see one in person before you order. Founder Dianna writes that she started the company after falling for the basket she was given for her fourth baby. The range runs from baskets and bassinets to stands, changing baskets, liners, mattress pads, nest loungers, swaddles, hooded towels and sink bathers.
The site says the showroom is open for in person shopping with 15 percent off everything, including pieces sold only in store. Prices are premium: a Moses basket or bassinet is 199 dollars, a changing basket 109, and Perfectly Imperfect seconds about 180. The tradeoff is access. The showroom posts hours on just three mornings a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, there is no phone number, only an email address, and this is one product family, not a general baby store.
Where: 891 S 490 W, Suite A, Pleasant Grove, UT 84062. Neighborhood: Pleasant Grove (South 490 West). Hours: Showroom Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9 to 12 (from site; the Google Business listing shows 9 to 2 on the same three days), closed the other days.
Best for: parents who want to see a Moses basket and stand before ordering.
4. Blickenstaff’s Toy Store: Best for first toys and gifts
Blickenstaff’s is a family toy store at The Shops at Riverwoods in north Provo, and its about page is blunt about the buying: every product is hand picked, no filler, no junk. The shelves are sorted by age, starting with Baby and Toddler, so shower shopping is quick. Jellycat plush leads the catalog, joined by Calico Critters, Olli Ella, Scoot & Ride, wooden pretend play, stacking and sorting toys and a shelf of books for ages 0 to 2.
The store is open until 8 on weeknights and 9 on Friday and Saturday, later than any baby shop in the valley, and the web store ships nationwide with free shipping on domestic orders over 75 dollars. Prices are mid-range, with squishies around 8 dollars and family games near 30. The tradeoff is scope: this is a toy shop, so there are no strollers, car seats, clothing or registry, and it is closed Sunday.
Where: 4801 N University Ave #470, Provo, UT 84604. Neighborhood: North Provo (The Shops at Riverwoods). Phone: 801-426-9300. Hours: Monday to Thursday 10 to 8, Friday and Saturday 10 to 9 (from site, matches the Google Business listing), closed Sunday.
Best for: a first Jellycat, a stacking toy or a baby shower gift.
5. Teton Toys: Best toy store for infants and toddlers, open Sundays
Teton Toys is a small regional toy seller with five stores, four in Utah and one in Jackson, Wyoming. Two are in Utah County: one inside University Place in Orem and one on East Main Street in Lehi. The site’s Toddler Toys department is written for this stage, with rattles, grasping toys, push toys and stacking sets, then bath toys, toddler books, wooden trains and play food, alongside plush, puzzles, LEGO and games for older siblings.
Both Utah County stores stay open until 9 on weeknights and Saturdays and both post Sunday hours, noon to 6 in Orem and 11 to 7 in Lehi, which makes Teton Toys the one pick you can shop on a Sunday in this valley. There is an online shop and gift certificates. Prices are mid-range. The tradeoff: it is a general toy store, so the baby shelf is one department among many, and there is no clothing, gear or registry.
Where: 575 E University Pkwy #N242, Orem, UT 84097. Neighborhood: Orem (University Place), with a second store in Lehi. Phone: 801-607-5936. Hours: Orem: Monday to Saturday 10 to 9, Sunday 12 to 6 (from site, matches the Google Business listing). Lehi: Monday to Saturday 9 to 9, Sunday 11 to 7 (from site, matches the Google Business listing).
Best for: rattles, stacking sets and push toys, picked up on a mall trip.
6. Funfinity: Best for toys and board books in south county
Funfinity describes itself as a family owned and operated store on Main Street in Springville, selling toys, games, books and, unusually, chocolate making supplies. It says it carries toys for every age, from young babies to teenagers, and its book wall covers board books, chapter books and classics. Arts and crafts kits, outdoor games and a dress up rack of princess dresses and knight armor round out the floor.
It opens at 9, an hour before most shops on this list, and trades until 7 Monday through Saturday. Staff will place limited special orders for books they do not carry, and there is a small online store. Prices are mid-range. The tradeoff: it is a toy and book shop with a baking aisle, not a baby store, so expect no clothing, gear or registry, and it is closed Sunday.
Where: 164 S Main St, Springville, UT 84663. Neighborhood: Springville (Main Street). Phone: 801-491-8940. Hours: Monday to Saturday 9 to 7, closed Sunday (from site, matches the Google Business listing).
Best for: south county families who want baby toys and board books without the drive north.
7. Betteroo: Best for the Nights After the Shopping Is Done
A quick note of transparency: Betteroo is us. We are including ourselves last and clearly labeled, because a baby store and a sleep plan solve two different halves of the same problem. The stores above get you the crib, the stroller, the car seat and the tiny socks. What no store can sell you is the part that starts once the boxes are unpacked: the 2am wakings, the naps that will not stretch past 30 minutes, the schedule that changes every few weeks. That is the part we built Betteroo for.
Betteroo gives you a personalized, gentle baby-sleep plan that adapts to your child and your situation, with age-matched schedules and step-by-step guidance for every regression along the way. For Provo parents juggling Interstate 15 traffic and Sunday store closures, it factors in the realities of your week, not a one-size-fits-all routine. Many families pair the two: register at The Baby Cubby or Lou Lou and Company for the gear, and use Betteroo to get everyone sleeping once the nursery is set up. You can learn more in our guide to the best sleep training apps.
What to know: Betteroo is an app, not a store. It does not sell gear and does not replace a car seat technician or a safe sleep conversation with your pediatrician.
Best for: Parents whose registry is complete but whose nights are not.
The store sorts the gear. A sleep plan sorts the nights.
Get your personalized sleep planNational Chains and Big-Box Baby Stores in Provo
The independents above are where you go for advice and hands-on testing. The chains are where Provo families fill in the basics, chase a price match, and lean on easy returns. Here is who has a physical presence in the metro in 2026.
- Target: The default Utah County run for diapers, wipes, formula, car seats and everyday baby clothes, with stores spaced along the whole Interstate 15 corridor. (Orem at 175 West Center Street, Provo at 1290 North State Street and at Provo Towne Centre, American Fork at 608 West Main Street, and Spanish Fork at 900 Expressway Lane)
- Kid to Kid: Resale franchise, and the only dedicated children’s secondhand shop we found in the county, buying and selling children’s clothing, toys and baby equipment. Both stores are closed Sunday. (Orem at 390 East University Parkway, and the store branded American Fork, which sits at 1438 East Main Street in Lehi)
- Carter’s and OshKosh B’Gosh: Budget bodysuits, sleepers and multipacks, with a combined Carter’s and OshKosh store in the Orem mall and an outlet store at the north end of the county. (University Place in Orem, and the Outlets at Traverse Mountain in Lehi)
- The Children’s Place Outlet: Outlet priced baby and kids’ basics, in the same outlet center as the Carter’s outlet. (Outlets at Traverse Mountain, Lehi)
- Minky Couture: A Utah chain of seven plush blanket stores whose range includes blankets sized for babies. (Orem at 301 East University Parkway)
Baby Stores in Provo by Neighborhood
Here is roughly how the picks above cluster across Provo, so you can plan one trip instead of four. Tap a pin for the address and website.
Provo and Orem: Riverwoods, University Parkway and northwest Orem
Blickenstaff’s is at The Shops at Riverwoods in north Provo, and Teton Toys is inside University Place in Orem, the same mall as Carter’s and OshKosh. Kid to Kid and Minky Couture are close by on University Parkway. Across town, the Lou Lou and Company storefront sits on West 1200 North in northwest Orem. Target has stores in both cities.
North county: American Fork, Pleasant Grove and Lehi
The Baby Cubby, the county’s stroller, car seat and crib store, is in American Fork, with a Target on West Main Street. Plum + Sparrow’s showroom is in Pleasant Grove. In Lehi, the second Teton Toys shares an East Main Street address with the Kid to Kid resale store, and the Outlets at Traverse Mountain add Carter’s and The Children’s Place Outlet.
Everywhere else: online ordering, delivery and the suburbs
South of Provo, Funfinity on Main Street in Springville is the one pick, and Spanish Fork has a Target. We found no independent baby store with posted hours in Spanish Fork, Payson, Saratoga Springs or Eagle Mountain. Every pick sells online: The Baby Cubby ships free over 95 dollars, Blickenstaff’s over 75, and Lou Lou and Company offers free local pickup in Orem.
What Baby Gear Costs at Baby Stores in Provo
Prices vary by brand far more than by store, and the independents usually match the manufacturer minimum on the big items, so the boutique markup is smaller than most parents expect. Rough 2026 bands for the four purchases that dominate a registry:
The takeaway: buy the car seat and the crib mattress new, spend real time on the stroller, and let the secondhand shops and the chains cover everything a baby outgrows in eight weeks.
Provo Baby Shopping Tips Locals Know
- Plan around Sunday. The Baby Cubby, Lou Lou and Company, Plum + Sparrow, Blickenstaff’s and Funfinity are all closed Sundays, as are both Kid to Kid stores. Both Teton Toys stores post Sunday hours: noon to 6 in Orem and 11 to 7 in Lehi.
- Plum + Sparrow’s showroom posts hours on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings only, and its own site and Google listing disagree on closing time, so email info@plumandsparrow.com before you drive.
- Plum + Sparrow’s site says the business closes from December 24 to January 4 and accepts no returns in that window, so order holiday gifts and send back anything unwanted before then.
- Utah holds no sales tax holiday, so there is no cheaper week to wait for. For big gear, The Baby Cubby advertises an everyday price match.
- For car seat questions, The Baby Cubby says its certified Child Passenger Safety technicians can be found in its stores during regular business hours, or by a scheduled phone or video call. Its site does not say whether an installation check is free, so ask when you call 801-770-0584.
Setting up the nursery is step one. Sleeping in it is step two.
Build your baby’s sleep planHow to Choose the Right Baby Store in Provo
Start with what you need to touch
Strollers, car seats, carriers and gliders are the purchases that go wrong online. Weight, fold, trunk fit and comfort are impossible to judge from a photo. Use an independent with floor models for those, then fill the rest of the registry wherever the price is best.
Ask about services before price
A store that installs the car seat, hosts a registry evening, offers a free nursery consult or runs a newborn class is saving you money in ways a discount cannot. Most of the picks above offer at least one of these; ask before you book a trip.
Build one registry, not three
Most independents run a universal registry that can include items from anywhere, and the chains let you add items from other retailers too. Pick the store whose staff you trust, register there, and let friends buy from wherever suits them.
What You Actually Need Before Baby Comes Home
It is easy to walk out of a great baby store with a trunk full of things you will never use. The short list that matters in the first weeks: a safe, flat sleep space with a firm mattress and nothing else in it, a correctly installed car seat, a way to carry the baby, and more swaddles and burp cloths than seems reasonable. Our baby registry checklist sorts the must-haves from the nice-to-haves, and our baby must-haves guide covers the gear that earns its place. And if the nursery is set up but nobody is sleeping in it, that is a different problem: start with our guides to newborn sleep week by week and baby sleep schedules by age before you buy another gadget.
This guide is for general information only. Store hours, prices and stock change without notice; confirm with the store before a special trip. For car seat installation and safe sleep questions, talk to a certified technician or your pediatrician.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best baby store in Provo?
For most families it is The Baby Cubby, which covers the full range from strollers and car seats to nursery furniture with staff who know the products, with Lou Lou and Company as the other standout. The right answer depends on what you need: the independents are best for advice and hands-on testing, the national chains for price and returns.
Where can I test strollers and car seats in person in Provo?
The Baby Cubby in American Fork is the pick for floor models you can push, fold and lift, and its site says certified Child Passenger Safety technicians are in the store during regular hours. Outside a store, NHTSA lists free inspection stations staffed by certified technicians, and many Utah County fire stations and hospitals host regular car seat checks.
Is it safe to buy baby gear secondhand in Provo?
Mostly yes, with exceptions. Clothing, carriers, bouncers, toys and books are safe bets, and the resale shops make it easy. Skip used car seats unless you know the full history and the expiration date, and check any crib against the June 2011 federal standard and the CPSC recall list before you bring it home. Buy the crib mattress new.
When should I start shopping for baby gear in Provo?
Most Provo parents build the registry in the second trimester and finish the big purchases by about 34 weeks, which leaves time for shipping delays, a car seat fitting and returns. Registry evenings at the independents fill up fastest in spring and fall, so book early if you want the one-on-one walkthrough.
Do I really need a boutique, or is Target enough?
Target and the chains are enough for the basics, and plenty of Provo families do most of their shopping there. What an independent adds is the part you cannot get online: someone who has installed hundreds of car seats, a stroller floor you can actually test, a registry that handles the awkward returns, and classes. Use the boutique for the big decisions and the chains for the rest.
Which baby stores in Provo offer registries?
Most of the independents above run their own registry or a universal one that can pull in items from anywhere, and The Baby Cubby is the one we would start with. The chains offer registries too, with completion discounts and long return windows. Whichever you choose, register the car seat and the crib somewhere with a knowledgeable floor team, and let the rest live wherever the price is best.
