Common questions Portland parents ask

How much does a postpartum doula cost in Portland?

All 20 doulas here have a published postpartum rate. Hourly rates run from $25 to $85, most between $40 and $60. Some sell packages instead: Mindy Baldwin lists 20 hours for $1,080, and Amy Adams lists a 20-hour package at $735. Several offer a sliding scale. Every figure is quoted from the doula’s own site or their DoulaMatch profile.

Does insurance cover a postpartum doula in Portland?

Sometimes. Samone Marie Wainright’s site says “Covered by most insurances & Sliding Scale Fee Available”. Most doulas here work on a self-pay basis, so confirm your own plan with the doula before booking.

What does a postpartum doula do?

A postpartum doula provides non-medical support at home after birth: newborn care, feeding help, rest for the birthing parent, light household tasks and meals, and emotional support. Day shifts and overnights are both common. They do not diagnose or treat medical conditions.

Do these doulas cover the Portland suburbs?

Yes. Nine are in Northeast and North Portland, four in Southeast Portland and three in Southwest and Northwest Portland. Two are in the westside suburbs (Tigard) and two in the south and east suburbs (Gladstone and Gresham). Most state a wider service area, so ask about travel.
