How Atlanta parents choose

  • Postpartum doula support is non-medical. It covers newborn care, feeding help, recovery support and rest, not diagnosis or treatment.
  • All 11 publish a postpartum rate, mostly $35 to $75 an hour. Every figure is quoted verbatim.
  • Several doulas here specialize in overnight care so parents can sleep.
  • Three are based in Atlanta, five in the North Metro and three in the east and south of the metro. Filter by area before you shortlist.
  • A blank pricing, review or photo field means we could not verify it, not that it does not exist.

Important

Postpartum doulas provide non-medical practical and emotional support. They do not diagnose or treat medical conditions, and they are not a substitute for your OB, midwife, or pediatrician. If you have symptoms of a postpartum medical complication, or thoughts of harming yourself or your baby, contact your provider or call or text 988 right away.

Common questions Atlanta parents ask

How much does a postpartum doula cost in Atlanta?

All 11 doulas here publish a postpartum rate. Hourly rates run from $35 to $75, with overnight care often a few dollars more per hour than daytime care. Some sell packages instead, such as 9 hours for $300 or a full postpartum package for $2,000, and one charges $150 for a three-hour visit and $225 for an overnight. Every figure is quoted verbatim from the doula’s own site or their DoulaMatch profile.

Does insurance cover a postpartum doula in Georgia?

Two doulas here, Ashley Leonard and Lauren Swanson, list approval to receive payments through Azova on their DoulaMatch profiles. Coverage depends on your plan and employer benefits, so ask the doula and your insurer before you book.

What does a postpartum doula do?

A postpartum doula provides non-medical support at home after birth: newborn care, feeding help, rest for the birthing parent, light household tasks and meals, and emotional support. Day shifts and overnights are both common. They do not diagnose or treat medical conditions.

Do these doulas cover the suburbs?

Yes. Three are based in Atlanta itself, five in the North Metro (Woodstock, Cumming and Flowery Branch) and three in the east and south of the metro (Decatur and Lilburn). Most state a service radius or the counties they cover, so filter by area first.

Is overnight postpartum care available?

Yes. Several doulas here specialize in overnight care, including Amy Tirrell, Susie Hayes and Lauren Swanson, and others offer overnight shifts alongside daytime visits. Overnight shifts usually run around eight hours.

How were these doulas chosen?

Each one is listed as a postpartum doula on DoulaMatch with a Georgia service ZIP, runs their own practice with a live website, and states an Atlanta-area base on that site. Doula agencies, birth-only doulas, and doulas whose own site gave no Georgia base were left out.
