How Vancouver parents choose
- Every consultant here is listed as an IBCLC in the BC Lactation Consultants Association directory and was checked against their own live website on 19 September 2026.
- Posted fees are in Canadian dollars and quoted exactly as published. An in-home initial visit runs $200 to $245.
- Most consultants come to your home within a set radius. Maple Ridge, New Westminster and North Vancouver are the main bases on this page.
- Extended health plans often cover private lactation visits. MSP usually does not.
- Blank fields mean we could not verify that detail, not that it does not exist.
Important
The consultants listed here are lactation professionals, not your baby’s medical team. For weight-gain concerns, jaundice, signs of dehydration, or any question about your baby’s health, speak to your midwife, family doctor or paediatrician, or call HealthLink BC at 811. In an emergency call 911. IBCLCs work alongside your care team, not instead of it.
Common questions Vancouver parents ask
How much does a lactation consultant cost in Vancouver?
Posted prices on this page are in Canadian dollars. An initial in-home visit runs from $200 to $245, with office visits and follow-ups lower, and virtual or phone consults starting at $100. One consultant publishes packages at $400 and $550. Every figure is quoted exactly as the consultant posted it; where a consultant does not publish fees, the field is blank.
Is a lactation consultant covered by MSP or extended health benefits?
A private IBCLC visit is not usually covered by MSP. Several consultants on this page say their services may be covered by extended health benefits, so check your workplace plan before you book and ask the consultant for a receipt that shows their credentials.
Do Vancouver lactation consultants do home visits?
Yes. Most consultants on this page come to your home, usually within a set radius of where they are based, with a travel surcharge beyond it. The two Maple Ridge consultants also offer office visits, and most offer a virtual or telephone option.
What is an IBCLC?
An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant has passed the IBLCE board exam and must recertify every five years. Every consultant on this page is listed as an IBCLC in the BC Lactation Consultants Association directory, and many are also registered nurses. You can confirm any consultant’s current status on the public IBLCE registry.
How did you choose which consultants to list?
We started from the BC Lactation Consultants Association member directory, kept members based in Metro Vancouver who run a private practice with their own website, and checked each website was live and matched the directory listing. Members in hospital or public health roles, or without a working website, are not listed.
How we checked this directory
Every provider was checked against their own website, professional listing, and where applicable a certifying body or professional directory. We re-check monthly. A representative sample of our sources:
