How Sydney parents choose
- Postpartum doula support is non-medical. It covers newborn care, feeding help, recovery support and practical household work, not diagnosis or treatment.
- Australia has no statutory doula register. Every doula here was verified against the Australian Doula College’s own public directory and, where one exists, their own website.
- Only two of the nine publish rates. Those figures are quoted verbatim; every other pricing field is blank because nothing is published.
- Sydney is wide and most of these doulas are anchored in one part of it. Filter by area before you shortlist.
- Blank fields mean we could not verify that detail, not that it does not exist. Two photos are deliberately blank because the only available image had a child’s face in it.

Common questions Sydney parents ask
What does a Sydney postpartum doula actually do?
A postpartum doula supports the whole household in the weeks after birth: newborn care and feeding support, helping you rest, light meal prep and tidying, sibling support, and being a calm, informed person to ask questions. The work is practical and non-medical, which is what separates a doula from a midwife or a night nanny.
How much does a postpartum doula cost in Sydney?
Very few Sydney doulas publish rates at all, and this page reflects that honestly: two of the nine publish figures. Caroline Knight lists three hours of postpartum support at $195 and additional hours at $65, with a birth support package at $2,800. Lisa Lee lists a birth preparation package at $2,000 and a single session at $500, and prices her full birth and postpartum package ‘upon request’. Every other pricing field on this page is blank because nothing is published, not because it was missed.
What is the Australian Doula College?
The Australian Doula College is an Australian doula training organisation that runs a public directory of its qualified graduates. Six of the nine doulas on this page state ADC training, and the ADC directory is the primary source this page was built from. Australia has no statutory doula registration, so a training body’s own directory is the closest thing to a register.
What is the difference between a birth doula and a postpartum doula?
A birth doula supports you through labour and birth. A postpartum doula starts once the baby is home and focuses on recovery, feeding, newborn care and household rhythm. Most of the doulas on this page are trained in both and say so; every one of them lists postpartum or postnatal support specifically.
Do these doulas cover the whole of Sydney?
No, and that matters because Sydney is wide. Most state a base suburb or a set of regions they travel to. Two work across the metro, and the rest are anchored in the Eastern Suburbs, the Inner West and Inner South, the Northern Beaches or the Sutherland Shire. Filter by area before you shortlist.
Why do some listings have no website?
Four of the nine have no working website of their own. Two of those, Leonie Lindenbergh and Danni Wright, have domains that no longer resolve at all, and two have never published one. Rather than link to a dead page or an agency profile, those listings link to the doula’s own Australian Doula College directory profile, which is the primary source we verified them against.
