How Portland parents choose

  • Every consultant here was checked against their own live practice website on 6 November 2026.
  • Seven of the eight list the IBCLC credential. One lists CLS.
  • Two publish self-pay fees, quoted exactly as posted. Several bill insurance or give a superbill.
  • Four are in NW and SW Portland, two in the westside suburbs, one citywide and one in Camas, WA.
  • Blank fields mean we could not verify that detail, not that it does not exist.

Important

The consultants listed here are lactation professionals, not your baby’s medical team. For weight-gain concerns, jaundice, signs of dehydration, or any question about your baby’s health, speak to your midwife, family doctor or pediatrician. In an emergency call 911. IBCLCs work alongside your care team, not instead of it.

Common questions Portland parents ask

How much does a lactation consultant cost in Portland?

Two of the eight consultants here publish fees. Bridgetown Baby lists an initial consult at $280 and a virtual feeding consult at $200. Mother Wing (Anna Luberg) lists an in-home initial consult at $325 and a virtual consult at $195. The others do not post a self-pay fee, so ask when you book. Every figure is quoted exactly as the practice posted it.

Is a lactation consultant covered by insurance in Portland?

Often, yes. Wildflower Lactation says it is in-network with many plans, including Medicaid. Bridgetown Baby says families with Aetna, UnitedHealthcare and several other plans may be covered at 100% through The Lactation Network. Kisha Johnston and Anna Luberg give a superbill you can submit for out-of-network reimbursement. Check your own plan before you book.

Do Portland lactation consultants do home visits?

Most do. Bridgetown Baby, Kisha Johnston, Anna Luberg and Flourishing Tots describe in-home visits, and Wildflower Lactation adds a travel fee for longer drives. Luna Lactation and Wildflower also see families at offices in NW and SW Portland.

Is there lactation support in Vancouver, WA and the westside suburbs?

Yes. Anna Luberg is based in Camas and does home visits in Vancouver and east and central Portland. Kisha Johnston is in Tigard and Lisa Gonzales of Flourishing Tots is in Wilsonville.

What is the difference between an IBCLC and a CLS?

An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant has passed the IBLCE board exam and must recertify regularly. A Certified Lactation Specialist holds a shorter certificate. Seven of the eight people on this page list the IBCLC credential. Sophie Ogle, a registered nurse, lists CLS and works inside the IBCLC-led Wildflower practice.

How did you choose which consultants to list?

We kept lactation professionals in private practice in the Portland and Vancouver metro with a live practice website that names them. Each person was checked against that site for credentials, base and fees. Hospital-only staff, dead sites and people without a lactation credential were left out.
