How Atlanta parents choose
- Every consultant here was checked against their own live website on 28 September 2026. Seven of the nine are also listed in the ILCA or USLCA public IBCLC directories or named on a registry-listed practice’s team page.
- Posted fees are quoted exactly as published. A first office visit runs $150 to $195 and a first home visit $250 to $300, before any travel fee.
- Insurance is common. Most of this roster is in-network with Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare or UMR, or bills through The Lactation Network.
- Three entries are multi-consultant practices rather than solo consultants: Breastfeed Atlanta, Atlanta Lactation and Lactation Consultants of Atlanta.
- Blank fields mean we could not verify that detail, not that it does not exist.
Important
The consultants listed here are lactation professionals, not your baby’s medical team. For weight-gain concerns, jaundice, signs of dehydration, or any question about your baby’s health, speak to your midwife, family doctor or pediatrician. In an emergency call 911. IBCLCs work alongside your care team, not instead of it.
Common questions Atlanta parents ask
How much does a lactation consultant cost in Atlanta?
Posted self-pay prices on this page run from $150 to $195 for a first office visit and from $250 to $300 for a first home visit, with virtual consults from $100 to $195. Several practices add a travel fee for home visits, from $65 to $85. Every figure is quoted exactly as the practice posted it; where a consultant does not publish fees, the field is blank.
Is a lactation consultant covered by insurance in Atlanta?
Often, yes. Most practices on this page are in-network with at least one of Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare or UMR, and several bill through The Lactation Network or Wildflower Health. Home-visit travel fees are usually not covered, and coverage for Medicaid, Medicare and HMO plans varies by practice. Check your own plan before you book.
Do Atlanta lactation consultants do home visits?
Most do. Home visits are offered across the metro, though some practices limit them to set areas or to the first two weeks after birth, and several charge a travel fee on top of the visit. Office visits are available in Sandy Springs, Roswell, Marietta, Decatur and elsewhere, and most practices also offer virtual consults.
What is an IBCLC?
An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant has passed the IBLCE board exam and must recertify every five years. Every consultant or practice on this page lists IBCLC-credentialed staff on its own site or in the ILCA or USLCA public member directories.
How did you choose which consultants to list?
We started from two public registries, the ILCA Find a Lactation Consultant directory and the USLCA member directory, added established Atlanta practices found by search, and kept those based in the Atlanta metro who run a private practice with their own live website. Hospital, WIC and public health roles, sites that are not a lactation practice, and consultants whose own site gives no Atlanta base are not listed.
